Infographic: Social Media’s Oscars Fashion Scorecard

By February 23, 2015 Analysis No Comments

It’s one of fashion’s biggest nights. While fashion bloggers around the globe are declaring their best and worst dressed celebrities of the 87th Academy Awards, Networked Insights analyzed social data to create its own list.

Regardless of where any fashion critic places Jennifer Lawrence’s gown, every list is subjective. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but social data can help decide which celebs owned the red carpet and which ones should hire new stylists. Networked Insights analyzed over 6.5 million posts about the Oscars red carpet fashions to identify the best and worst dressed celebrities as well as the most talked about fashion brands.

Tracking both volume and posts expressing the emotion love, here’s what we found:

Best Dressed

Rosamund Pike, Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick generated the most positive conversations about their red carpet looks. Viewers loved their use of color and sparkle.

Worst Dressed

Sadly, most viewers were not fans of Lady Gaga’s, Nicole Kidman’s or Marion Cotillard’s looks. Each of the stars took fashion risks that didn’t pay off.

Most Talked About Fashion Brand

Generating a collective 62,000 tweets, designers Calvin Klein, Versace and Elie Saab were the most talked about fashion designers last night. Calvin Klein dressed Lupita Nyong’o in this one-of-a-kind look. Meanwhile Versace and Elie Saab dressed big name stars including Jennifer Aniston, Scarlet Johansson, Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Lopez.
